PRESS RELEASE: Argenta Arts District Sponsors Kaleidoscope
Argenta Arts District Sponsors Kaleidoscope
LGBT Film Festival Coming to Argenta in August
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – (June 27, 2016) The Film Society of Little Rock, a non-profit organization focused on providing innovative and unique programming and events, is proud to announce that the Argenta Arts District will be the Presenting Sponsor for the 2016 Kaleidoscope LGBT Film Festival beginning August 18, 2016.
“Kaleidoscope celebrates the diversity of the LGBT community and filmmakers by presenting poignant and thought-provoking films documenting LGBT lives truthfully and with respect,” said Tony Taylor, Executive Director of Film Society of Little Rock and Festival Director of the Kaleidoscope LGBT Film Festival. “The Argenta Arts District has a long history of promoting an inclusive community atmosphere in the heart of Central Arkansas. There’s never a dull moment on Main Street, and I couldn’t imagine a more fitting sponsor for our film festival.”
The Argenta Arts District is located in North Little Rock’s oldest and most eclectic neighborhood, where the buildings are more than a century old but the life style is cutting edge. The District is filled with art galleries, artist studios, a community theater, chef-driven restaurants, a farmers’ market, eclectic shopping, pocket parks and more to relax and rejuvenate. Commitment to the visual, performance, landscape and culinary arts are evident throughout, said Taylor.
The Argenta Arts District is easy access from all downtown hotels by foot or trolley. A school for creative arts, a children’s gallery, hanging floral baskets, fresh baked breads and antique shopping are all within several blocks.
Kaleidoscope is Arkansas's only major outlet for LGBT films and filmmakers. The LGBT audience is comprised of one of the most discerning and influential demographics to be found at any film festival. Film selection is still underway and details of the program will be announced mid- to late-July. The Film Festival will open at Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock August 18. All other screenings will be held at the Argenta Community Theatre.
